248: One attempted murder and a bomb later...

I don't have a photo for today, I really need to go out and just take a bunch. I'll probably have time for that sometime next week, which will be fun, and then I'll have a ton of photos from spring break.

Things in my life are genuinely going so well right now.

It's dead week, and I've got a bunch of shit going on, but all of the stupid schoolwork is offset by the things that are going really well.

The title, though, is about my skateboard. I noticed the other day that it had a weird hiccup when I hit a bump and the battery level suddenly dropped; and I suspected that it was one of the packs coming unplugged internally. This was a couple days ago, and I didn't really get to analyze it until today, when the board was for sure not making it as far as it should have.

I don't know what part came unplugged inside, but one of my cells is at 41V (dead, but normal), and the other is at 12V. I tried for a solid hour to get into the cell, but if you've been around or I've talked to you about it, you'll know that I literally glued them shut with Silicone sealant in post 160. That doesn't seem like that long ago, but I guess it sure was. I'm fairly certain the same thing that happened then is happening now, but now that they're literally filled with glue, it's very difficult to get inside. I genuinely might take it to the shops tomorrow and try to cut it open with a dremel, because I think if I can get a decent opening I can pry the whole thing open like a clam and hopefully at least save the batteries. I honestly think I can probably save the whole thing, I just need to get inside.

To be clear, that battery is "the bomb", because if I accidentally cut one of the cells or manage to light them, they very possible could explode.

The board is still in pieces, so I won't be riding it tomorrow (which is okay, get my steps in).

It did also try to kill me today; I was almost to my destination downtown, and it just fully cut out in the middle of an intersection. I'm fairly certain it was thermal throttling (turned off because it was too hot), and by the time I needed to use it again it was back to being fine, so I didn't worry about it too much. I did go from class to the place I needed to be in record time, and maintained 23-25MPH most of the way there, which was honestly really fun, so I can't be too mad that it overheated, it was hot today.

I don't know if I'll have to redesign the whole electronics packaging, but I'm fairly certain that none of them are actually damaged, so hopefully I can get it all back up and running later this week.
