329: Microcontrollers

329: Microcontrollers
This is an old photo, but BUTTERFLY!!

EE 329 is the Microcontrollers class I'm in right now, so I had to name the post after it.

329 has been hard, but it's mostly just been annoying, by which I mostly just mean that the professor is a dummy. He's an AI shill, and I hate him for it.

I don't need to rant about my opinions on AI and it's uses (or lack thereof) in the classroom right now, everyone who reads this has heard my takes.

I did learn (and I find super interesting) that the userbase has a heavy gender bias; skewing hard towards men, even per capita. I'm not going to analyze that right now, I just thought it was interesting.

My day was pretty darn good.

I woke up at ~10:30, showered, and then handed the phone over to Emily early (shoutout Emily!) and went to the Italian Cultural Association picnic, which was honestly lovely. The italian club is a really fun subset of people, because it's totally different from any other subset I interact with in my day-to-day, and I'm getting to know all of the people in it well, which is super fun.

We got back from that around 3:30, and I took the time to finish A Fistful of Dollars, which was just as good the 2nd time. The things you notice on a re-watch of a movie are great, and my notes were definitely much better this time.

Around 6 I grabbed dinner from VGs on the way to El's, because she had a break between the three band practices she had today, and I planned to take up that time myself, and I did 😁.

I headed back from hers when she left for the last of the 3 practices around 9:15. I got home and got to work on my skateboard, because I knew the motors worked, but I hadn't adapted the wiring yet, so I had to cut and solder the 16 wires (3 power and 5 signal each). I have tons of practice with this kind of thing, so it only took me about an hour, and I nailed every cut and strip first-try, which felt awesome.

After that I decided I didn't have time for an entire spaghetti western (we will be watching TWO on Tuesday) so I hopped on Trackmania Turbo. Sabina was gloating to me earlier that our record was 38-2 (out of the first 40 tracks, I was faster than her on 38 of them, she was proud of those two), so I decided to obliterate her time on both of those tracks (as of writing the record is 40-0). I played five more that I hadn't yet (41-45), and then remembered that I had Forza I needed to play. The weekly reset is Friday morning, and I need to keep up with it, because the special month car this month is cool as hell, which means I need to get enough forza points each week, so I did some races to that end. I love that game, I wish I had more time to play it. While I was at El's tonight Seth texted me to ask, which warms my heart, and is unfortunate timing. I do need to play with him more.

That's kinda it though; very simple day, but very good.
