231: Very Italian today
Literally everything I did today was Italian. Seriously.
I had to wake up super early for my Italian Zoom Exchange thing, which was great, as usual. It was still just the two of us from last time, but Giuseppe is cool, and we just ended up playing Terraria together for like 20 minutes of the hour-long session, which was fun. I got so little sleep, I'm writing this one at 10:18, and I plan on being asleep before 11, which is a huge step in the right direction.
After the zoom call I had a study sesh with my partner for the Italian midterm (which is an oral exam). That was a couple hours, and we did just light some of it on fire, but we ran through each of the questions, and I'll practice my responses a little more tomorrow too (midterm is on Tuesday).
After that I talked to my mom, which is always great, and today my dad and brother played a more active role than just passing by and waving, which was really nice. There are some games coming out soon that I want to end up playing with the both of them, so we mostly talked about that, but it'll be a lot of fun.
My main thing today was the Italian Club's pasta-making night, which was amazing! The title photo is of the farfalle we made, and we also made tagliatelle, which is like extra-wide and thinner fetuccine, directly from scratch (flour and eggs). It was so good, and it was really fun to hang out with a bunch of people and just make something.
We only spoke Italian some of the time, but most of us there aren't fluent enough to speak it exclusively, so it was all good. I am definitely getting better, it's just a practice thing. I also learned how to play 4-person scopa, which is a game I learned in a past Italian meeting, and I just realized I never actually talked about it, it was during a messy day, so I just didn't write it down.
That whole event took something like four hours, but it's a fun departure from the hard STEM that goes on in the rest of my life, and it was really fun to be Italian for a little while.
I skated back home, which was dope as hell, love this board, and then since I got back I've done Italian homework and talked with residents.
I did get that tail fin put on today, and it's SO CLOSE. It will sit on the tail fin, but only if I counterweight the board (hang something on the other side). I need to shave down the back of it by just a tiny bit to dial in that angle, but I didn't have time today.
And I just finished the post at 10:46, so I'm done! Buonaseratta!
