208: BACK AT IT AGAIN with the TECHNOLOGICAL TROUBLESHOOTING
Today has been a mess and a half, honestly.
I got a whole one thing done, and that thing is a 28-page guide to exporting PCB designs in Wind Power, which is definitely super useful, but I wanted to do so much more.
Part of the reason I was unable to do more was my server crapping its pants again, and again unexplainably, but this only partially, which was almost worse. I couldn't access the server, and this blog and my file backup both stopped working, but the photos backup still worked perfectly, so the server was clearly running. I couldn't figure out how to access it, so I had to do a hard restart, which is definitely not great for it.
While it was down, I took the time to switch out the thunderbolt dock it was using for the other one I have (the one that wasn't fast enough for my monitor), because the one that was in there is bigger and has more USB ports, so it's more useful for my laptop to plug into, even though it's older.
The older dock has the same specifications on the Displayport, which was the one that was a problem before, so it's one-to-one there.
The thing I didn't expect, though, is for the older dock to be kinda broken. It's currently plugged into my monitor, but it's only plugged in and delivering power, the USB hub part isn't working, and the display part isn't working either. I don't know how the server lasted so long with this thing, so I'm hopeful it was the problem.
I think the main USB-C connector is loose, because wiggling the cable earlier is what caused the display out to stop working, and the power delivery to start working ( I didn't realize it wasn't until my laptop was almost dead).
I'll take it apart when I have the time (maybe late tomorrow or Saturday, we'll see).
Almost forgot to mention, but I ate it on my skateboard today. I tightened the trucks (the turney part) last night, because they were a little too loose, but that made them way too tight, so I leaned too far and just came right off the board. I'm fine, just scraped my knee and my foot, but there's now a quarter-sized hole in my pants, the sock I was wearing on my right foot was absolutely obliterated, and my oldest pair of toe shoes now have like 9 total holes, but this one is pretty damn big.
Those shoes are genuinely so awesome that I might keep wearing them, even with the giant hole, but I'd been meaning to get a new pair anyway, so maybe now's the time.
I need to learn to patch my pants, too, because this won't be the last time I have this problem, and it'd be fun to have patchy pants, honestly.
