This is the fountain in between the two buildings of the National Gallery, as seen from below. I really wish I had a tripod, or was there at night, because a long exposure of the water moving would be really cool.

The line above is a quote from the masterpiece that is 2006's Cars. I quoted it today at one of my coworkers, after I overheard her talking to herself. I don't think she got the reference, but alas, my quips frequently fall upon ears that aren't in tune with my understanding of the zeitgeist.

Zeitgeist is actually one of my favorite words. It's stolen from german, where it translates roughly to "spirit of the age". In use, it means the cultural narrative and relevant pieces of cultural media (at the moment, for example, The Epstein files, or OpenAI, or if you're really tuned in, LaBuBus and Dubai Chocolate). It's a noun, and usually used to describe something being a part of or "within" the zeitgeist, which just mean's it's culturally relevant, or that most people would know what it is. I use it in conversation from time to time and end up explaining it to the people I'm talking to, which is definitely not a detraction from its appeal. I used to tell people that I employed my vast lexicon simply for the magnificence of words, and to perhaps expand the working vocabulary of those around me and under my tutelage. (That sentence was a little over-the-top, but I proves the point well enough), and zeitgeist is one of my favorite tools in that arsenal of uncommon words and phrases.
