16: Thing: Fixed!
I was informed this morning that the breakthrough I made in yesterday's post didn't quite work, as I had never gotten the systems to have people make accounts and become members to work in the first place.
I had a hunch what that would require, but didn't know the exact syntax, so I spent another hour or so today hunting down the proper cause of the issue. The problem was my mailing setup the whole time, because I had never gotten SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) working. I had tried to go into the container while it was running and changing the config file directly, but every time I did that it failed upon next restart, and I had to force update it (pretends it's an update even though it's the same version, but redownloads and refreshes everything) to get it to launch again. I figured I probably had to add these parts to the config within Unraid itself, but I didn't know how it wanted those things input or the exact phrasing and spacing it needed. The container was relatively barebones, so it didn't provide any direct guidance. I had to hunt down another blog (also running on Ghost, of course) that had previously solved the same problem and posted about it to find the exact thing to input, but then once I did, the system works! This also probably solves the problem I was having at the very beginning with staff logins needing to be confirmed by email, which also wasn't working, but was something I could just disable.
I may use this format more in the future, I'm calling it Yap Above, Story Below, where the free preview part is just me yapping about something super boring, and then the personal stuff hidden below, so maybe people sign up to be able to read it ;)
