Post 1!

I was on the fence for quite a while about making a blog like this, but the ennui of today finally forced me to look into it. It took some experimenting and messing-with, this is actually the 2nd "first post" I've written, because I biffed the config on the last one and had to delete the blog and start over, but that's just kind of how this thing goes sometimes.

I do quite like this kind of writing, and I think I'll try to post every day, about something that happened or something that's on my mind. Depending on how flexible this platform is, I may use this website also as a portfolio (both engineering and photo-graphical), but it remains to be seen if that will be possible.

I also am on the fence with how much to share, because this site is just... on the open internet. I think there's a way for me to have "public" and "members" posts, so maybe I make public some of them and private the ones that have personally identifying information or major life stuff. I will probably use this as somewhat of a creative outlet and personal storytelling platform, because I love the idea of having that backlog of my thoughts from the past, and using this as a journal of sorts will likely be very therapeutic.

I would also be lying if I didn't mention the romantic inside me loving the idea of someone reading through the blog as a way to get to know me better. It may never happen, but the possibility is honestly a significant force in me making this in the first place. I think I will also use it as a replacement for social media, in a way, because I have been feeling the FOMO from no longer posting on Instagram, and being out of the loop on all of the other platforms.
