102: Hmm, yes, the sound of ripping duck tape.
The title today is about my (very janky) new curtain rod, which was hung up by myself and a couple of my residents using tape, which was an obviously and horrendously terrible plan. It worked for about 28 hours, and then after I got home from Wind Power today, I was greeted by the sound of disconnecting duck tape, and decided to take it down before it took itself down.
The curtains certainly aren't light, and there are now two of them, so I designed a bespoke hook to go over the fire riser bar, and hold the rod. We aren't supposed to hang anything from the fire riser, because it would be a logistical NIGHTMARE if they were to ever break, but the odds of me breaking it are fully zero. I can guarantee that some drunk first-year has done pull-ups on theirs at some point, and I don't think there has been a broken bar in the history of the building, so I'm simply not worried about it. The bars were retrofitted, they aren't original, but they also have definitely never been replaced, so if they've made it this far, they can handle my curtains.
