83: AND IT'S A THREE WAY TIE

The title (and photo) today are both about Trivia, one of my very favorite things. I have a solid trivia squad with some of my close friends, and we attend every one of the school's trivia nights (3 or 4 a quarter, usually).

Today's trivia was the first one of the year, and was a lot of fun, though it was hard. We guessed well, and absolutely swept one of the categories.

The way this trivia works has a sort of double-jeopardy final round where you can win or lose it all, and while we did guess right and didn't lose it all, the other team we had tied for first with before the final round (when we tabulate total points and learn how everyone is doing) also nailed it the same round we did. One of the teams that was barely behind us wagered a guess earlier than we did, which earned them more points on that question, so all three teams came out of the final round with 36 points.

We did a tiebreaker based on the last question, which was a kind of closest-team-wins thing, except that each team guessed the same year, so the first tiebreaker ended in... the same tie.

We had another tiebreaker with the same format, this time with much more variance among the teams, which ended us in 2nd place. I was more than thrilled with this outcome, because I entered with the expectation of having fun with some friends, and then we had some amazing pulls, which put us in a far better position than we expected. We did win prizes for being 2nd place, there are always 2 sets of 8 prizes, and the winning team gets to pick first, but 2nd place does still get stuff, so I got a see-through drawstring bag with the cal poly logo on it, which I'm not complaining about. I'm sure I'll have a use for it at some point.

The next trivia session is in two weeks, and we will be pulling together the same squad to put up just as good of numbers then.
