380: Giardino

380: Giardino
Here's a picture of the Giardino in question.

Giardino is the the Italian word for "Garden", and this garden was freaking awesome, if that wasn't obvious from the photo.

This was the field trip, and tbh the main thing I did today, and it was rad.

We went to Castello Ruspoli (literally Ruspoli Castle), explored the whole thing (alone!!), did our on-site presentations (mine was about the gardens but I ended up talking mostly about the crazy family lore that led to them, rather than the gardens themselves.

We were there for 3 or 4 hours, and it was incredibly cool to just explore a castle, because a castle it was. This photo was taken from the 2nd floor (1st floor Italian Style), which was the one that was open for us to explore, and so cool. It was a proper castle; big ol' paintings, fireplaces, big metal bathtubs, secret passageways, walls a meter thick, the whole shabang. It was so freaking cool.

The town it was in/on was also super cool, because it was really hilly, with the castle at the top, and navigating the little town in our shuttle was so quintessentially European, I would love to live in a place that vertical (and skate it).
