381: FOMO, promises to myself, and the subtle art of giving up
I'm writing this one early, because the main topic (based on the title) is something I'm actively thinking about, and I wanted to capitalize on that.
I've talked about my struggles with FOMO before, and it's something I particularly run into with experiences that have a wide range of possible outcomes. The choice in question tonight is whether I go to play Magic, because I'm tired, and playing a difficult game in a language I barely speak with people I don't know is a particular type of exhausting. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but it's not the kind of thing I have the bandwidth for tonight.
The issue arises from me just taking that excuse internally and allowing it to pass, and the myriad of internal (and internalized external) little alarm bells that went off.
