378: A chaotic but wildly successful jaunt

378: A chaotic but wildly successful jaunt
I think this is some kind of old building. No idea what it's significance is.

I had a good name for this post in my brain earlier but I FORGOT TO WRITE IT DOWN GODDAMNIT.

Hate when that happens.

Today was pretty great. I slept until ~10, which was later than I wanted to, but was nice.

Our original plan was to make it to the 10:55 train, but we (by which I mean I) fumbled the bag pretty hard.

I'd made a couple of key assumptions that turned out not to be true, and we ended up watching the train go by without tickets.

I had assumed the ticket counter at the station would have the tickets we needed (it didn't, and then the machine that would sell equivalent ones didn't work), so we simply watched the train pass by.

My solution to that was to go into town and try to find tickets at a Tabbacheria, but none of them are open today because it's a Sunday and nothing is open. It's pretty unfortunate, to be honest, I even had the thought last night that I really should have gone out to get those tickets, I just didn't.

The trains are only every two hours today, which is alright, but means we were waiting. We headed back and figured out ordering the tickets online, which was actually pretty easy. The app Luke had been using worked super well for us, and I'll probably use it in the future (the trenitalia app is xenophobic [you need an Italian phone number to use it]).

I did a little studying in the hours we had to burn, and then we got on the 12:55 train into Roma, which worked out pretty well.

We all split up at different stops when we rolled into Roma, and I got off first to catch a Metro line to where I needed to go.
