279: Howdy Skaters!

279: Howdy Skaters!
This is a photo from Wednesday's Front Porch show of El 😍

I'm having a hard time starting this one, and I'm really not sure why, so I'm going to do the meta-commentary thing where I talk about not talking and that kick-starts the talking. Today was great.

I got up around 9:45 to change out the print of the new fenders (I think I mentioned those in yesterday's post), and it (barely!) fit, so I opted not to change the design, and simply printed an alternate for the one that I had started at like 2 AM.

I did wake up to the alarm I'd set when that print finished, but I was simply too tired to even get out of bed, so I... didn't.

The new rear fenders actually worked fantastic though; they mount into the back of the motor mounts, and act as the holes (via heat-set inserts) for the motor mount bolts themselves, which means they have to be super secure by their nature, and they didn't rattle at all today, which was amazing. The board was honestly weirdly smooth; I think something with the fenders makes the normal motor and belt noises quieter, so it felt awesome today.

I grabbed breakfast from brunch (pancakes and scrambled eggs of course) at ~11:30, ate it, and then zipped down to the club showcase for Open House. It was a cool event; a bunch of clubs show off what they do for prospective students, and I got to yap about one of my favorite things in the whole world (Wind Power) for like an hour to anyone that wanted to listen, which is always fun.

After that I went to testing, which turned out to be not-testing, because the blades had a CAD mismatch and the new ones didn't even fit the turbine 😦, but I wasn't relying on today's testing for anything anyways, so that's alright. I spent the couple hours working on our design report (due in like two weeks!) and doing some more yapping for tours that wanted to see what we were up to (always happy to share).
