269: All of my days in one place
All but one of my classes this quarter are in the EE building, which sounds like it would be a good thing, but it's truly and seriously not.
The first reason that's not a good thing is that the EE building is a hole. It was built in the early 1940s, and has been retrofitted to hell and back (not with air conditioning though!), and while it does have a small charm to it, being able to see all the changes that have been made to it, its age is definitely showing.
The second reason that it's not a good thing is that it messes with my sense of time and place. Having all of my classes in one building removes the transition period between classes almost entirely, and I really don't like it. I have classes in rooms 136, 139, 143, and 148, so there's not even really a commute within the building. That lack of buffer time leads to some brain fog, as I fail to draw solid lines in my memory and mental processes between topics, but it also means I don't need my skateboard as much, which sounds like it might be a positive, but is also a bad thing. I truly love locomotion via skateboard, and not needing it also generally means not being able to do it; I can't skate within the building, and it doesn't make any sense for me to bring the skateboard along for the few very short trips I'll be making to the library (though I honestly still might).
My classes this quarter seem like they're going to be pretty good though, all things considered. EE 329 is definitely going to be a bear, but it hasn't really started yet, so that can be later-me's problem.
308 (and 348) are going to be interesting, and honestly, the construction of complex analog circuits will probably be interesting enough that I can perform well in the class, even if does turn out to be difficult.
Italian language is fantastic, as always, and Italian Film is going to be really fun, I think. I got the first real taste of what that class is going to be like today, and that kind of literary analysis (even though it's films this time, I know) is something I really enjoy. It's also really fun to see the Italian professor in an environment outside of the italian class, because she seems a lot more energetic, which is fun. It's clear that Italian film is a subject she really enjoys, and learning from someone that's passionate about the subject is always a huge benefit.
