227: Progress!

The title is about things that happened today, but it's also one of my "unskippable cutscenes", as I call them. There are a number of phrases and sayings that trigger lines from songs to play in my head, many of them from famous things (lots of Hamilton), but "Progress!" is one of them. It's specifically the end of the song Progress by Midnight Oil, a niche Australian band that I grew up listening to (shoutout my parents). The song is about the horrors of modernization and how dehumanizing things are becoming:

Got your last meal filled up with pesticide
Hamburger chain third world infanticide
Got robot car, your jobs will disappear
It's called the politics of the brand new year

The end of the song is a chant of "I say!" "Progress!" back and forth, that's the bit that plays in my head.
