225: Bueller!
Today was a day off.
Or, yesterday was a day off.
I've had like 3 days off in a row, I did fully zero schoolwork Saturday and Sunday, and I did very little today, but I did do some!
I was woken up by my normal Monday alarm at 7:15, used that interruption to change my print (for the 2nd fender), and then I went back to sleep.
I was planning on waking up at maybe 10, maybe like noon, when I woke up, though, it was 2:30 PM.
I showered, grabbed the other fender off the printer, and then ate gave the new board a shot when I grabbed breakfast.
The fenders work great, in concept.
I made them mount to the motor mount screws, so they sit between the bolt head and the mount itself, where there would normally be nothing, and it's given me some trouble.
Other than being version 4, and introducing a weird new rattle that unnerves me, they work pretty well. I have had trouble with them slipping, but I didn't put any locktite on the new motor bolts when I put them in, so I'm just going to go do that now.
I rode it about a mile to a friends house for a thing I was super late to because I was on call till 7:30 (thing started at 6...), and it did get me there and back, but by the time I had gotten back the motors were loosened enough that I was skipping pretty bad trying to stop, which is mildly terrifying. The belt skipping seriously limits my braking power, because braking any harder just does more skipping, so I need to get that fixed before I ride it again, which will probably be in the morning.
Other than that short trip to Victoria's house I didn't really go anywhere today. It's been a very short day for me (who knew waking up at 2 PM cost some time), but I didn't have that much I needed to do in the first place, so it's alright.
Having tomorrow be a tuesday does throw things off a little, because I'm lazy and there's some homework I should have gotten done today that I pushed off, and I have less homework slush time on Tuesdays, but I should still have plenty to get it done.
The teamsters union is going on strike this week because Cal Poly (acting as a pawn of capitalism) is evil, so there might not even be class for some of my classes tomorrow. Italian is online already, so there's a chance my others get axed too (which would be dope, but I'm not expecting).
It's been raining all day too, which is cozy from inside, but makes going places and doing things a bit dreary.
I might just walk tomorrow tbh, the skateboard felt weird on the way to Victoria's and back, and I think it might simply be the wet-weather toe shoes. They're significantly less barefoot than the others (I can't feel every single thing that happens beneath them) and I think it's messing me up on the board. I don't know if it's because they seem to have a little bit of heel or just because I can't feel the edges of the board with the bottom of my foot, but it feels icky and unstable. It could also just be that I need to tighten the front truck, so I'm going to do that too. I've found that I turn more with my rear foot than the front one, so having the front be loose messes up my dynamics.
I'm going to go fix that now, and then I'm going to go to bed!
