221: Slaying Out

221: Slaying Out
This is a really terrible photo (taken on my phone) of the scores for today's bowling class

"Slaying Out", as I use it, is a term for when someone performs at their best. It is based in the drag-queen term "slay", something that many women will say to each other as a sort of nondescript compliment, but I also imagine "slaying out" in a video-game sense, obliterating the enemy or the competition. I didn't really obliterate the competition today, the game was close, but I did obliterate my bowling personal best, which felt pretty amazing.

If you can't see it in the photo, I'm on the bottom of the left scoreboard, with a 182, or 245 with handicap. The 4th bowler on the other team also slayed out today, which was pretty cool, honestly. It was nice to have someone else at the top with me, so it wasn't as lonely up there. "Alone at the top" is a saying, but honestly I prefer not being alone at the top, bowling is a battle between current me and past me, seeing someone else also winning their respective battle against their past self and the game doesn't diminish my accomplishment, it just makes me happy for them as well.

I was super sore today, and walking was painful for my knee and the muscles in my butt and lower back, so it kinda sucked, but I actually think it made me a better bowler. When every action has a pain consequence, I'm much more particular with the actions and movements I take, and I slowed down a little bit, which worked out quite well. I will probably be in much better shape come Tuesday, but I might try to replicate my movements from today, the ones that worked at least.

My skateboard actually made my injury easier to deal with, too, not harder. Walking sucks, but walking sucks because of the repeated bending of my knee, when I'm on my board, there's relatively little knee-bending, so it was still a good mode of transport.

I was talking to some friends from Italian class today, and there's actually going to be four of us from my class in Italy this summer, and we talked about taking a weekend and meeting up, because the access is so good, and the country isn't honestly that big, so it's totally doable. We'll have to talk about it more as we get closer to summer, but it would be awesome to take a weekend to visit Napoli or Milano.

Lab today went pretty well, we got everything cranked out for the report, so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I spent some time in the library working on my equation sheet for the 302 midterm tomorrow and practicing problems, and I didn't really get that finished until just now (at like 1 in the morning... yeesh), but I think I'm pretty prepared for tomorrow.
