220: Tore myself a new one
This is a photo of a window in Morro Bay. I don't remember much other context.

The crustiest road in San Luis Obispo tried to kill me today; not a very good time.

I think I hit a rock or something, because I wasn't going significantly faster than I normally do, and one of my front fenders is cracked, consistent with some kind of rock getting thrown into it. I must have bumped over it, but I didn't see the thing coming, so I got speed-wobbled hard and just ate it.

I absolutely nuked the pants I was wearing (gash down the inside of the right leg, ~knee to ankle), took some serious scraping to my knee, scraped up my hand, and my butt is pretty bruised.

I've had one hell of a day, honestly, because on top of that, the power was cut to the dorms at like 8:15 AM, and it messed up my config. When I got home at like 3, my little router simply wouldn't turn on.

I expected problems, but I didn't expect problems with the little router, so I just kind of faffed about for a while, trying to get it to start, and then trying to get the system working without it (which did not work). I had the RA meeting at 8, and one of the other RAs recommended I do a hard restart while also pulling the CMOS battery, which worked! Getting to the CMOS battery required a full teardown of the box, which was only like 20 screws, but I hadn't gone that far in prior.

Once it was back together and turning on (lights on), though, it still didn't boot into the proper operating system for like a while. I don't know what the problem was, but I opened it and reseated everything (RAM, mounting pressure, storage), and then it booted up. It's been smooth since then, but I lost a solid 4 hours tonight that I wasn't planning on losing.

I was supposed to use those hours to redesign my rear fenders for the skateboard, because the design I have right now is not going to work long-term. Luckily, it isn't supposed to rain again until Sunday, so I have time to figure it out.

I did far less studying today than I should have, but that's fine.
