199: The Cal Poly Effect

199: The Cal Poly Effect
This is one of the shots from last Friday's house show.

"The Cal Poly Effect" is what I'm going to start calling the tendency for social connections at this school to quickly form circles. It's genuinely with almost every single person I know, I can make a circle with them and another mutual acquaintance. It's fun, honestly, and I think it speaks to the connectedness of the campus, and the connections we make as students, but it always manages to catch me off guard when people I know from totally different scenes and classes are also friends.

This happened again today with El, the bassist in the background of the photo above, who I met last week while Inkfish (name of band above) was practicing. I thought she looked familiar, and I think we must have met some earlier time, because I learned today that she's a 3rd year CS major, and is friends with the Sabina/Chip crew. It was nice to actually meet her, she seems cool, and anyone who hangs out with that friend group is someone I can hang with.
