181: Home sweet SLOme
This is a cute sign that's part of the downtown SLO holiday decorations.

I definitely stole that title from someone's cheesy Instagram post, but I don't remember who's, so I'm calling it "inspiration" instead of plagiarism.

I'm back! I got everything unpacked, and got my skateboard put back together, which is great. It was raining by the time I was going to go try it, so I didn't get to skate around, but it should be all good.

I'll only really going to be using it to visit friends who arrive tomorrow, and I know the area and roads here pretty well by now, so I'm not worried about it.

Travel today went pretty well, we were delayed out of Phoenix, but only a little bit, and I actually got to use a lot of my downtime to work on wind power stuff, which was great. I made a couple of executive decisions and essentially finished the controls box carrier board, which will be the backbone for all of our controls-side components.

The kicker today wasn't the travel, though, it was the fact that housing changed my key without telling me. When I got back today, there was a little sticky note on my door saying that they'd changed out my lock, and I have to go to the front desk for a new one. I had to sit in the hallway for nearly an hour while I waited for one of the other RAs to get back, since I couldn't get to my master keys (the keys to get the masters are in my room), and the front desk isn't open that late, so I'll try the winter-break desk tomorrow, but it might be closed, and if it is I just won't be able to lock my door until Monday, which is really cool.

I don't have any idea why they did this, they didn't do any of the other doors in the hallway, and I didn't request it. I think there's a chance I've been pranked, and someone put in the request for my room, but I don't know who would do that, so I'm mostly just lost.

Someone (probably maintenance?) also stole a couple of my posters from the hallway, which I also don't understand. The mounting putty is still on the walls, so they didn't do a great job, and neither of the posters were offensive or problematic. They took my Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Daft Punk posters, but left Detective Pikachu and The Goonies, as well as my resident's Star Wars and Pokemon posters. I'm going to ask my boss, because it almost had to be maintenance, the number of people that have been through this hallway since I left is literally one (one of my residents is back early too), and he's definitely not the kind of person to do this.

I don't get it. Maybe I'll get some answers tomorrow, we'll see.

I didn't do any school prep today, so I've gotta get all of my files and Canvas everything sorted tomorrow and Sunday, but I'm not too worried about it.

The package center will hopefully open up tomorrow or Sunday, because I've got a few packages (my new monitor is the biggest, that was delivered today), a belt, and some bolts for my skateboard, as well as a letter that came in the day I left for break.

I'm going to make it a goal to go say hi to people as they arrive, especially Katelyn, who I haven't seen since June (she was in Spain last quarter), which I think will be fun. Most of my friends live easily skating distance, and it's honestly so fun to skate around SLO, I'm obviously doing it to say hi to my friends, but the skating is a pretty good bonus.

It's only 11, but I'm going to play some videos game on my projector, because I can, and I haven't in a good long while. Cheers!
