172: Silksong all done
This is a mediocre long exposure of a truck on the freeway. I wish I had a robot to perfectly nail the tracking, because for shots like these you have to move the camera with the subject (that truck), and it's really hard to keep it perfectly aligned.

I finally beat Silksong! I have spent probably something to the tune of 24 hours on the final few bosses in that game over the last couple weeks, but I finally beat Act 3 last night, and I'm calling it good. I finished with 63% in just under 61 hours, which isn't really anything special, but I don't feel the need to reach 100%. I finished the storylines I wanted to see completed (like Garmond and Eva), and I beat the hardest bosses, even though it took me a while on the last few.

The final boss, Lost Lace, was honestly one of my favorites. It took me probably an hour or two of trying to finally beat it, and I did so by the skin of my teeth, but it was just such a good fight. Lost Lace is a corrupted (and significantly harder) version of two earlier fights against just Lace, but it means that I wasn't really starting from scratch when I dropped in, which felt really cool. Lots of the muscle memory training from those earlier Lace fights applied here, just faster, and with smaller margins for error (which I usually cleared). It was really hard, especially in the 3rd and 4th phases, but it felt amazing to finally beat it, because the skill and precision required were high, and I had earned them (through rote repetition). Fights like those, where I know that I won off of skill and precise movements, are the reason why I put up with some of the horseshit that games like that throw at you. In Silksong, every single matchup is unfavorable for you, hitbox-wise. Hornet (the player character) doesn't hit that hard, and the area her attacks hit is pretty small (especially with the build I was using), but the enemies all deal contact damage, and have these massive swinging areas of attack, every single fight felt like I was the underdog (which I definitely was, some of those fights came out 30 or 40 to 1, by round, but that 1 was all that matters to the game).
