156: I'ss alright
Today was chill.
It was essentially just Wind Power, which was fun, and then gaming.
Wind power was like 11-3:30, and it was only really the main crew, but it was good, and we got some good stuff done. I modeled the controls and load boxes, so I can use them to line up the ports with the carrier boards, which I will (hopefully) start work on over the winter break, because they are a backbone for the rest of our design.
We did some really cool actuator testing today too, to figure out exactly how much energy it takes to hit the brakes on the turbine.
After I got home I lit time on fire until like 6, when my dad got online and we played some more of the new Destiny expansion, which was great.
After we got off I processed the officer headshots from Thursday, which wasn't too bad, but I made a serious blunder when I did it; I was shooting in JPEG. I had set my camera to JPEG earlier (Monday) in order to use a Zipcar (rent-a-car service, see Monday's blog), and I forgot to change it back. This didn't impact it too much, but I could tell something is very slightly off, because JPEGs store so much less data, like they wouldn't tell me the color temperature they were shot at, which was bugging me, and made it harder to match the temperatures of the photos. (I should have manually adjusted that, but that's another conversation).
I lit even more time on fire, some of it talking to my residents (not Jefferson though! I haven't seen him yesterday or today, which is kinda wild), and then it's now 12:42 AM, and I should go to sleep.
I think I'm going to go to the hardware store tomorrow, because the bolt that holds the little handle on the front of my electric skateboard fell off today, so I need a new one of those, and I really need some washers for the motor mounts. They're just sheets of cut aluminum, but without washers, I've had to tighten them so far that the bolts are denting the mounts, and I would like them to not do that please.
I also need some superglue, because my current bottle has given up the ghost, and the bottle of Kraggle I had stashed away went solid a while ago, so I'll be picking up some of that.
I'll probably do a little bit of studying, because I do have a final on Monday, but I could genuinely turn it in blank and get a B- in the class (which is good enough), so I'm not actually going to put much work into it. I'll glance over the practice problems and make sure I can do them, but that final follows the Pareto principle to it's maximum point. (Return on investment is literally zero, so why invest).
I do have a real final on Wednesday, but I'm not going to study for that one until at LEAST Monday, maybe even Tuesday. My habits are not effective, but they're effective enough, so I ain't changin them. I'm like a marsupial (inefficient, but in an environment where I don't get punished for it, so I don't change (as compared to mammals btw)).
