Great Success.
Today my family and I went to Solvang, which is a little danish-settled town ~60 miles south of SLO, and it was really cute. I took my camera, but I haven't processed the photos yet. There are a few that'll be pretty good though, I think.
We also got High Street for lunch, which was fantastic (as always). I ate half of the sandwich for lunch, and then had the other half around 8 PM for "dinner". I always get the "garden burger", which is a whole bunch of veggies, sauce, and a veggie patty. It's amazing.
I skated to and from the hotel again today, which was fun. I took my charger today though, so I could charge the board while we were out, and it wouldn't die on me on the way back. The knowledge of the route and confidence in my battery let me cut down the time significantly (from ~30 to 20 minutes, mostly by skipping and rerouting problematic stoplights).
I skated home around 4, tried to call my other grandpa (who did not pick up 😛), and then did some RA stuff for a bit. I talked to the other RAs on my team about my event next week, to see if anyone else had procrastinated hard, and wanted to collaborate. I got three others who needed a 2nd active, so we're going to do decorations and snacks on Tuesday afternoon, which will be fun.
My good friends from home (Alli, Fredo, and Shu) got on a discord call at like 6:30, and we did some gaming. I spent like $15 on steam games, one of which was "Pico Park", which is a really fun little co-op puzzle platformer, and the other of which was the Halo Master Chief Collection, which was on sale for super cheap. We got Cursed Halo installed, which is a mod that overhauls most of the weapons and enemies in the original Halo to be very goofy, which makes for a very fun gameplay experience. It was a little bit of a hassle to set up, and Fredo had to go right after we got it working, but Shu and I played the first couple missions, which was a lot of fun.
The camera in the photo is a funny thing I was trying; I can use my Nikon as a webcam if I just plug it in, which was honestly so cool. It took some jank setup to get it to sit in the right place, but in the photo it's set up so it covers my spot on the discord call, and that way when I'm looking at either of my friends, I'm looking almost directly at the camera, so it looks better on their end.
It actually worked almost flawlessly, other than the fact that the camera was very warm afterwards, which is slightly frightening.
I might genuinely use that in the future for important zoom meetings, because it's such a massive jump in quality that it's worth the setup if I need to make a good impression.
