145: We are so back
The parts for my electric skateboard came in today, and it took me a couple hours to get it all set up, and then another couple hours for me to wait for the sealant to dry (I sealed the new ESC in the box with silicone, and waited for it to dry before I rode the board).
I hit a minor snag when one of my board's belts up and snapped when I was riding it today, which was unexpected, but I put like 90 miles on those belts, so it was bound to happen eventually. I had extra belts, but they're a different size, so I had to shrink down my mounts, which took another few minutes, and then the belts were actually slightly too wide. I took a pair of scissors and trimmed them down so they fit. I ran into the same problem I had a little while ago where the motors were too close to the truck, and started to rub. It's a slight design flaw IMO, that they can rub while in the proper mounts, but other than replace the mounts, there isn't much for me to do about it. I managed to get it functional without rubbing, but longer term I might actually be able to just sand down the trucks where it's rubbing, because it's big and square, so I think I can round it off without compromising anything.
I did... very little else today. I'm on call, so I went on walks with Ani at 10A and 10P, and then just worked on my skateboard and burned time on the internet.
The reason the carbon deck is on the floor, is I intend to wrap it in paper so I can line up all of the holes I need to drill, because it's going to be hard to get those lined up, but I think sketching it out is going to help.
I also learned that the current deck is slightly misaligned... so even if I get it wrong it will still be rideable.
It's like 12:20, and I'm genuinely totally out of food, so tomorrow I'm going to get up, pass off the phone, and skate to get food somewhere that lets me order ahead with my grubhub dollars for breakfast, because I've got nothin.
