114: A Toothless Blade
I got started on my carbon deck today! After the Wind Power workday, I went to the Hangar, partially to see if a part we just had 3D-printed worked (it didn't, womp womp, we'll print another w/ the changes), but also so that I could get started on my carbon fiber longboard deck. Liv, a good friend of mine and also a shop tech, was able to check things out to me even though the shops are technically closed at the moment, which is such a great perk of having cool friends. We checked out a jigsaw, some clamps, the composites dust vac, and a drill (with some bits). I didn't end up needing the drill or bits, because we ran out of daylight (carbon fiber gets worked on outside because the dust is incredibly problematic (very very small, carcinogenic, pervasive, etc.)). I worked from just before 4 to about 6:15, and I got almost all of the excess removed. I made big, broad cuts, because the jigsaw isn't that precise of a tool, and I didn't want to biff the corners (I'm going to go back and sand them to shape at a later date). I got more done in two hours than I expected, and I think in probably another 3 or 4 hours of work I can have the project finished, which is so doable.
I just realized while writing this (at 11:50), that I hadn't done the wordle yet, so I just speedran it real quick, got it in 4, which is my average.
