371: Rest, and research
I did comparatively nothing today, but I also (technically) got more done, so I'm going to call it even.
I slept in super late again, simply because I can (got up around 12:15), but then all afternoon and evening I essentially just puddled around in my room on the internet. I do have things to show for it though!
The main things were researching the needed upgrades for my electric skateboard when I get back to SLO, and working on some Italian homework. I procrastinated a little bit, but I got the presentation done, and then worked a little bit on the CAD for the skateboard.
The hardest challenge I had to figure out was how to mount the new system I was designing; I didn't want to use the old system that came with the original kit, because the spacing of the bolt-holes wasn't very good (my fault, but hard to fix), and I didn't trust 3D-printed plastic to hold up to the abuse that it takes on the bottom of the board.
The thing I eventually figured out that would work is a standard aluminum extrusion. The smallest size that I could find is 20mm square (on each side), and should work beautifully. I'll have to do a couple iterations of mounting brackets and enclosures for everything, because they're probably going to have to be either multiple pieces, or printed by someone other than myself, but I can figure that out later. This solution works great, because it works kinda like the old one did. The rail runs down the center of the system, and then the enclosures just slide on and get bolted in place / to each other. I haven't figured out exactly how to plug everything in yet, but I'm not very worried about that, that part is (relatively) easy. The only connection that needs to be made is a Battery-voltage rail down the whole system, so I can plug into it for charging and mount the batteries in parallel.
