354: EVERY SINGLE RIDE

When I say every single ride, I don't mean literally every single ride, but I do mean every ride that's real and not literally for children, though we did ride BomBora, so we even hit the ones that are kinda in-between.

I'm going to go through them in the order we did them because I don't have a better order, and that I can at least keep in my brain.

I'm debating whether I pull pictures of the rides, and I'm thinkin I will, but the first one gets a video:

We arrived at like 10:04 or something, park technically open, but almost nobody inside yet. We did sunscreen in the parking lot, and then headed in. The obligatory first ride is the Roller Coaster, which was originally built in like 1921, and is rad as hell.

If it wasn't obvious, this is going to turn into a yap session on all of the rides at Lagoon and how they went. Also probably some yapping about how much I love my girlfriend in there (she's laying next to me reading as I type this, something about typing about her when she's literally right there is super fun, it's like preemptive flirting, because she obviously reads these).

We were at the very back of the first train, which was fun; the Roller Coaster is rickety as all hell, it's made entirely of wood, so it's always a jarring and bumpy ride, but still a fun one.

We decided to do a lap and ride it again, because we could literally walk back on, and there was nobody else there.

The video for this one is from that second ride, where we were at the very front, and also the only people in the entire train. It was an experience I'm not sure I'll ever have again.

Anyways: We decided to make our second ride the newest one, because it was going to be the one with the longest line, and it was (notwithstanding technical difficulties on The Spider, which I'll talk about later).

The (2nd, but 2nd to a boring ass swing) newest ride at Lagoon is called Primordial, and it's a mildly intense rollercoaster with a built in light-gun, Buzz-lightyear ride at Disneyland style, and everyone is given classic stereoscopic 3D glasses to wear during the ride, which is so fun. El and I were obviously competing on score, and (according to her) the scores were 5190 to 2790, my way (obviously, I mean come on), but only in total. She had me in the first half, not gonna lie. I forget the exact number of shooting sections, but she was ahead of me all but the last one, where I clutched up hard. It was honestly pretty fun, and if it didn't have a long-ish line we would have ridden it again.

The next ride was a must-see, but is kind of a silly ride. It's called Wild Mouse, and it was clearly designed by a crazy person. It's a smaller one, and fits nicely in a small rectangular footprint, but the ride is so jerky and aggressive, not many people enjoy it.

You can see from the picture how jerky and ridiculous the top part is.

Wicked is a really fun one, because it's the only one in the park with an electromagnetic launch. Instead of a long chain or whatever pulling this thing up a ramp, Wicked gets its speed from being thrown down the track with magnets, like a coil gun (look it up, they're rad).

Wicked is also the first of the really intense rides, going vertical both up and down (in succession), and having a corkscrew. The electromagnetic launch goes from 0-60 in around 4 seconds, and then you go straight up (and then straight down) the tower in the picture.

We stayed in the southwest corner and finished off the good rides there, and our next hit was Colossus. Colossus is one of my favorites, because I have a core memory of being at another very-empty Lagoon and riding it 4 or 5 times in rapid succession, which was amazing.

I think I almost passed out on it today; I didn't eat a great breakfast, so on the loop-the-loops and some of the high-G corners I was definitely losing my vision a little.

Our next ride took us a hot minute, because I think they were having some technical difficulties, so they ran each cart through the track once while we were in line. Some kind of calibration, probably.

Anyway, it's called The Spider, and it might be my favorite ride in the whole park. The little 4-person car is joined to the rail with a free-spinning bearing, so a normal-ish track is turned into something far crazier, with turns being taken backwards and sideways.

I need to go to sleep, so I'm going to start typing less. (Talk less, Smile more)

We rode the Sky Ride over to the other side of the park to hit Cannibal, the biggest and the scariest one.

Cannibal is a crazy ride, and I think in 2018 or whatever year it was finished it had the steepest drop of any roller coaster, period. It's definitely the most intense at Lagoon, and is a ton of fun.

Samurai was next, because it was physically next to Cannibal. It might be my 2nd favorite ride, it's just so crazy.

Samurai spins on 5 different axes, so you get thrown every which way while you're riding it.

We had lunch at one of the spots in Lagoon, and I got a genuinely massive burrito that came with what was essentially a side salad, so El and I split it.

Rattlesnake Rapids was next, and is the only water ride on this list. It's a ton of fun, and the timing worked out such that El and I got a raft to ourselves, which was awesome. Her pants are still wet (hanging in the bedroom some twelve hours later)

We only had a couple more to check off, so next we rode BomBora, simply because we could. It's a Legoland-level roller coaster, great for your 5 or 6 year old, but very tame compared to just about everything else on this list. Still fun though, and 10 minutes tops in-and-out.

Our last coaster was The Bat, which is the only hanging coaster at Lagoon, but is a pretty fun one. I've always liked the green-and-purple, and it's a little different movement than the rest, which is fun.

El then rode The Rocket without me. I mentioned a few days ago that I used to be afraid of heights, and the coasters that just go up and down are still not my friends.

We got some Dippin' Dots on the way out, which were phenomenal, and headed home! We were both super tired, but we managed to hit every real coaster in only a few hours, which was awesome. We left around 3, and headed home.

We showered when we got home, and then watched Tron:Legacy, which is SUCH a banger movie, especially with a sound system like we have at my house (the bass in that soundtrack is sublime, we were shaking the building a bit), and then we just read for the rest of the night, really.

A damn good day, and a damn good proper date for us. We're amazing together, but El and I don't get much time to just go on dates, so today was lovely.
